Babies are also called little angles and these need lot of care. Here are some tips to take care of your baby’s health:-
1. Breast feeding:-
Breast feeding to the newly born baby is the best source of nutrition as it is perfect food and easy to digest. As the baby is auto-fed by the mother during the womb period (pregnancy time); the breast milk of mother contains all the essential sources of nutrition as vitamins, fats and proteins required for the growth of baby’s body and mind. Brest milk provides it in right proportion. The breast-fed babies are stronger and are protected from number of deceases as ear infections, obesity, allergies etc. Avoid other sources of milk as cow’s milk, buffalos’ milk or goats’ milk. Don’t use packed milk prepared in factories. The mother should consult the doctor regarding her diet for the entire period of breast feeding and follow the instructions strictly.
2. Safety measures at home:-
With the day-by-day growth, babies try to move towards their surroundings. It’s all right but it may lead to home accidents. So apply safety measures at home as- Cover the sharp portions of your furniture and all such sharp-edged items. Remove all the sharp utensils; match stick; lighter etc. from babies reach. Only soft, play type and child friendly items should b within the reach of babies. The detergents, soaps, medicines and any kind of eatables may be away from babies reach. Apply the window locks and door-stoppers in a proper way. Don’t leave the baby alone at home or in the care of elder children. Don’t left the baby alone during the bath even for a second.
3. Checkups and first- aid kit:-
The doctor may be consulted after regular intervals regarding baby’s health. It is compulsory in case of pre-mature babies. The parents should have the knowledge of providing first-aid. If any home accident took place, it may be impossible to reach the doctor immediately; so keep a first-aid kit to provide immediate relief particularly to cure minor cuts, wounds, minor burns etc. some normal medicines for infections as cold and cough are to be kept in the kit. Remember- store the first-aid kit out of the reach of baby.
4. Physical activities:-
Make plans to do physical activities with family and involving the baby. Avoid giving mobiles, video-games, computers and such items to babies to keep them busy in playing and spending your time in other works. These sitting games may lead to obesity which further gives birth to number of deceases. Play physical games as running, swimming, wrestling, hide & seek etc. with baby. Limit the time of screen games to an hour a day. Physical activities are helpful for the baby to be healthy and strong along with other family members.
5. Spend time with baby:-
Parents should spend time with baby. Involve yourself in their funny activities. Spending time with the baby during eating, playing etc is good for their social development. The babies may make it their life time habit. The baby feels secure with parents and slowly a bond of love and affection develops among them. Keep the baby warm by bringing close to your chest as the kangaroos do. Try to be positive and realistic as this is the period when the good manners, habits are developed in the babies. As they learn from day-to-day life. Try to decode the baby’s cry and remove the problem or consult the doctor.
