God gifted human beings with a pair of eyes to see the beautiful world, to feel and experience things and to develop senses. Number of things may affect the eyesight as age, genetics etc. Here are few tips to protect your eyesight naturally:-
1. Eating issues / foods :-
Leafy greens as kale, collards, spinach etc along with guavas, carrots and tomatoes nourishes your eyes. Ghee or clarified butter improves eyesight. Eat foods rich in vitamin A, Vitamin C, butter, grapes, papaya, all kinds of berries, liver oil and omega-3 fatty acids. Eat oily fishes as salmon, tuna etc. in place of tea/ coffee- try to use green tea. Use eggs, nuts, oysters etc. The best friend of your eyes is the balanced diet.
2. Routine:-
Wear shades/ sunglasses as these protect the eyes from direct sunlight/ sun’s ultraviolet rays. Wash your eyes after every 2-3 hours at work place. Use neem water to cure conjunctivitis. Wear hat or a visor. Close your eyes after every 30-40 minutes for 2-3 minutes to give them complete rest. With the increasing age- be in contact with eye specialist and get these checked after frequent intervals.
3. Day – to- day problems:-
Keep the bright screens at a distance either of computer, television, mobiles or such more things. Get enough sleep of about 7-8 hours. Remove glasses when no need. If you work on computers for a long period, your eyes may feel strain. Take break of 10-15 minutes after every hour. To get immediate eye relief at work place, try a simple step- put a pen in your hand in front of your eyes at a distance of 2-3 feet and slowly bring it close towards your eyes, try to focus on the pin of the pen, move it clockwise and anti-clockwise, keep try focussing on its pin for 2-3 minutes without blinking.
4. Exercises:-
Right after waking up in the morning; wash your eyes with cold water. Walk on grass early in the morning with naked feet. Make yoga and exercise a routine habit. Exercise your eyes as- moving eye balls up and down, left and right without blinking. Maintain your weight according to gender, height, weight and age as excess weight leads to high blood pressure and diabetes – having adverse effect on eyes.
5. Avoid:-
Avoid smoking and consumption of liquor as these leads to increase in number of blood problems, lung problems and give birth to number of diseases and some of these as already noted above are the enemies of good eyesight. Avoid staying engaged in one activity for long and try to take 5-10 minutes rest. Avoid upmost brightness of your mobile and computer screen. Avoid dependency of your glasses/lenses/goggles and only wear these in time of need. Avoid doing reading/ writing / computer work/ mobile using or all such other eye stressing works continuously for long periods of time.
To conclude- the only superb thing not covered in above noted points is complete rest. Human body has twin eyes which sees, feels and gets strained. So, enough rest / sleep are necessary.
